My
Background
I am a consultant to the Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical
industries. Before I retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1994,
I spent 34 years in various positions, including serving as
Associate Director of the Squibb Institute for Medical Research,
Vice President of Development, Vice President, Scientific Liason,
Vice President of Licensing, and Vice President of Business
Development and Planning for the pharmaceutical division of
Bristol-Myers Squibb.
I
have held advisory positions at the Unviersity of Pittsburgh
(where I attained my Ph.D in Pharmacology in 1960), Rutgers
College of Pharmacy, and Princeton University.
I
was Chairman of the Board of Magainin Pharmaceuticals (now called
Genaera) and am currently Chairman of Phyton, Inc. In addition,
I am a director of 11 other companies: Biocryst Pharmaceuticals,
Diacrin, Avigen, Synaptic Pharmaceuticals, Phyton, 3-Dimensional
Pharmaceuticals, Nitromed, Immunicon, Palatin Technologies,
Epigenesis, and Dov Pharmaceuticals.
I
am the winner of the A.E. Bennett Neuropsychiatric Research
Award and one of the winners of the American Heart Association
Discovery Award for work on the development of angiotensin converting
enzyme inhibiters.
I
have also provided research, development and business advice
to large pharamceutical companies, small and large biotechnology
companies, venture capital firms, and law firms.
